Drone Imagery for the Acquisition and Assessment of Rock Fall Areas

Abstract

Drone allows for taking aerial imagery from which modern photogrammetry generates comprehensive 3D models. The models are used to assess rock fall areas in Alpine regions that form the basis for deciding on safety measures. With according software tools geometric and geologic measurements are gained directly from the 3D models that represent a permanent documentation of rock areas that are very often inaccessible conventionally.
